…Just kidding. We get paid to work, but it’s what you make the most out of your time, and we have lots of fun at work!

Just sharing a few pictures of the few events that happen at work. Every Friday we either take a field trip or do something fun with our students at the center. A few weeks ago, we took our students to Kennedy Park for train rides and petting zoos. Unfortunately, the entertainment area was closed! But no worries, we went all out on the playgrounds and were able to entertain ourselves. We also had a special party last Friday for Mexican Independence. It was pretty fun. We had lots of fun – history lessons, food, dancing, and pinatas!!!

Kittens

I took my students out to the parking lot last week to play some baseball, and I happened to hear some very high, very cute squeaky meows. They were two little, barely two-week-old kittens. The most adorable kittens I have ever seen (besides Miss Kitty, of course). They had the most beautiful blue eyes. So we took them in (the mom was not in the area), and decided to fine them a good home.

They were smaller than my feet…

Yes, I’ve been MIA. It’s been super crazy here since I’ve moved back home. I love my job, and I look forward to going to work every single day. I also picked up a few hours working as a caretaker in our support living unit, and also working at a music school teaching piano and voice! Life has been so good to me~

I work with special needs adults and every single day is a blessing. Everyday is a new day, and so very fulfilling, and I learn so many things from my students! My heart is heavy when they’re having a bad day, and it smiles when they’re happy. I think this is really where I’m meant to be – to help people. I haven’t been this motivated and happy in awhile.

But, this is just a quick update to let y’all know what I’ve been up to, and why I’ve been MIA for the past few weeks…

Arts ‘n Crafts time!

So I volunteered to teach this week’s Arts ‘n Crafts class tomorrow at my work. I was browsing the internet and came upon a simple to do, no fuss, no mess project. I think our students will enjoy doing this. It’s cute, it’s fun, and it allows them to be really creative because it lets them design the fish the way THEY want it.

What You Need:

Paper plate (doesn’t matter what size)
Crayons, color pencils, or markers
Glitter Glue
Elmer’s glue (It can be stick or liquid, but I find liquid more useful on the thickness of the paper)
Whatever else you might like to decorate your fish with

Directions:

Draw a mouth on the fish. Cut the mouth out and set aside (this will be used as the tail). Remember, the smaller the mouth you make, the smaller the tail will be. You can make the fish happy, sad, angry, or whatever emotion you want.

Draw in the eye, then decorate the body of the fish with markers. Put on the glitter last. Don’t forget to put in a fin! You can give it pretty scales or make the fish one color. It all depends on how colorful or creative you want to be with the fish!

Once you are done with the body of the fish, go ahead and decorate the fish’s tail. When you are done, glue the tail onto the body of the fish.

Healing.

Sometimes when you’re in the heat of a tough situation, you’re blinded to the blessings and positivity that can come out of that situation.

I learned acceptance and to let go. Accepting my situation, and letting go of what I’ve been holding on for so long. Now that I’m here, I wonder why I held on for so long, when I could have been here starting a new career instead of suffering in that godforsaken school…

Sometimes I get sad and wish I was still living in Southern California and still with Chris…But this opportunity and change has opened my eyes to so many things – not just my situation with Chris, but also with my life choices, and family, and career.

I look forward to work every single day. I haven’t felt this much passion and motivation in such a long time. Even if it’s a stressful day or week, I always feel so fulfilled. All it takes it a little smile or happiness from my students.

I also started teaching my first piano student last week. I’m so excited about that. She’s a 14-year-old autistic girl that just came from Taiwan two months ago. This is good practice for me, because my Chinese isn’t very good. Teaching music in Chinese is tough!

And most importantly, my kitty seems to love being here in a bigger house, with more people because she gets more attention. [pictures coming soon...]

However, adjusting to this environment is tough! My breathing is shallow because I was so used to breathing in that smoggy air, and my skin has been breaking out! Isn’t that something? Having to ADJUST to breathing in clean air.

So now that I’m finally settled in (for now…I still have stuff to move back from Chino Hills…) I can focus on me, and working on myself to be the woman I can and will be. Chris has taught me some important things: positivity and strength and I am so thankful for that.

And the best part about moving back? Homecooked meals and my mom making my lunch for me sometimes .

Or I may feel like that right now. Because it’s true. But once I know when I move back home I will have time to slow down and process everything. Everything came at me with full speed, like a bullet train, and I really had no time to process everything. I’ve been in emotional wreck the past few weeks. Even now, everything seems surreal. The life I have here will soon be over and some parts of it are already over.

But the next chapter will start soon. Chris was going to be the person I was going to marry. Was. Still is. I don’t know what to feel right now. I have to stop holding on and let him go. This is the hardest breakup I’ve had to endure (and frankly, I’m sick of relationships not working out), mainly because neither of us wanted to, but we knew we had to. We both have some growing up to do. I need to get financially independent and get on my own two feet before I can start a life with someone else, and frankly, he needs to date more people and learn many things about a relationship. I don’t blame him for being hurt and pissed off. He moved from San Diego to LA to be closer to me, and a few months later I had to move back home. Circumstances would not let us be together. But being friends with him might be an option. It will be an option. I believe that we would be great in whatever we do together, whether it’s being in a relationship or being friends (though, now, you know I would rather be his girlfriend than friend…). And maybe one day in the future, we will be together again. I’m not letting go of that hope.

Staying down here might have been an option. Finding a steady job was very difficult. Family pressure was great, and I had to move home to help my family, so that my dad can retire earlier and that they may have money when they retire. I also got a job offer up there – with benefits and everything. So do I take up that offer, knowing that I have to leave this life behind (for now…), or do I stay and constantly worry that I will have no steady job or health insurance?

I can be childish and say that perhaps I was not worth it to him to want to keep this relationship going, and that I’m tired of not being worth it to every guy I date when things end. However, that’s a part of growing up, is to handle things differently and better. Granted, we exchanged hurtful words when we were hurt and angry, but choosing to calm down and think with a clear head and making the decision that’s best for the both of us takes a great deal of courage. Chris changed me for the better. He made me a better person, more positive and much stronger.

What’s harder is that things didn’t end badly, and we both came to this agreement. Though we didn’t want to do it, we had to. I couldn’t keep fighting to keep him. The turnout wouldn’t be great – I would have been begging him to say, – I am a woman of dignity – and I would be forcing him into something he didn’t want to be in. I was so sure we were going to workout. But why does it have to be giving up one thing for another? If I chose to stay here, I would have given up on that opportunity – Yes I get that. But, I chose the opportunity but I don’t understand why I had to give Chris up. Just because I’m moving doesn’t mean I’m leaving Chris and doesn’t mean I don’t love him. He means the world to me.

I’m trying to muster up the courage to face the facts: no more phone calls, texts, or I love yous. No more hearing his voice before I go to bed, and no more good morning texts when I wake up. No more laying in bed doing nothing with our arms around each other. No more love, no more Chris.

But like Marilyn Monroe once said:

I believe everything happens for a reason. People change so you can learn to let go; things go wrong so that you can appreciate them when they’re right; you believe lies so that you will eventually learn to trust no one but yourself and sometimes, good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

This job opportunity presented itself during the time I needed the most, and when my family needed it the most. And perhaps this move happened to show that Chris and I aren’t ready for that next step in life together – that we both needed some growing up to do. However this isn’t the end. I think we both know in our hearts that we were meant to be together, perhaps just not now…(But does that mean waiting for him, in a non-relationship circumstance? Do I prohibit myself from dating other people? I don’t know. I really can’t focus on that right now…)

It’s funny how life works itself out in the end, doesn’t it? Even though it hurts like hell right now, I know I have to be strong for myself and for my family. If things were meant to be, it’ll happen between us. I’m not sure what to feel yet…but I know I’ll figure it out once I get home. I’m just thankful I have a really supportive family and great friends to help me through this tough time.

And perhaps, things fell apart here in my life so that it will allow greater and better things to come. And if that’s the case, I can’t wait.
